Nkwanta Nsana Zongo Assembly Member Leads Communal Labour to Prevent Flooding
The Assembly Member for the Nkwanta Nsana Zongo Electoral Area, Hon. Richard Kwame Nayo, with the approval and support of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi, has led a successful communal labour exercise aimed at desilting choked gutters to improve drainage and prevent flooding in the community.
The exercise brought together residents, volunteers, and members of the Nkwanta South Okada Riders Association, who worked collectively to clear blocked drains and ensure the free flow of rainwater during the rainy season.
Addressing participants, Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi commended Hon. Richard Kwame Nayo for his dedication to community service and urged other Assembly Members within the municipality to emulate the initiative by organizing similar clean-up exercises in their electoral areas. He stressed that maintaining clean surroundings is a shared responsibility that contributes to improved public health and environmental sanitation.
Hon. Richard Kwame Nayo explained that the clean-up exercise forms part of his continuous efforts to protect the Nsana Zongo Electoral Area from flooding and promote a cleaner, healthier environment. He noted that such community initiatives would be sustained to ensure the well-being of residents.
The Public Relations Officer of the Nkwanta South Okada Riders Association also expressed his appreciation for the initiative and thanked members of the association for volunteering their time and effort to support the exercise, describing it as a meaningful contribution to the development of the community.
The successful communal labour exercise reflects the importance of collaboration between local authorities, community leaders, and residents in creating a cleaner, safer, and more resilient Nkwanta South Municipality.
