The Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly has received national recognition for its outstanding performance in the 2025 Public Financial Management Compliance League Table (PFMCLT), following its remarkable ranking as 2nd out of 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across Ghana.

The recognition was conferred by the Center for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA), with funding support from the European Union, during an awards ceremony held to honour Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies that demonstrated excellence in public financial management and compliance with established governance standards.

The Assembly’s outstanding performance reflects its unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, fiscal discipline, and the prudent management of public resources. The achievement also highlights the effectiveness of the Assembly’s financial management systems and its dedication to promoting good governance and sustainable local development.

In addition to the Assembly’s impressive national ranking, the Oti Region emerged as the best-performing region in Ghana, a testament to the collective efforts of local government institutions within the region to strengthen financial accountability and improve governance outcomes.

The Municipal Assembly dedicated the recognition to its hardworking staff, whose professionalism and commitment have been instrumental in achieving this milestone. It also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South, Hon. Geoffrey Kini, traditional authorities, Assembly Members, development partners, and other stakeholders for their continuous support towards the development of the municipality.

The Assembly noted that the award serves not only as recognition of past achievements but also as a renewed call to maintain high standards of financial integrity, accountability, and effective service delivery. It reaffirmed its commitment to implementing policies and programmes that promote inclusive development and improve the quality of life of the people of Nkwanta South.

The recognition further strengthens the Assembly’s resolve to build a responsive, transparent, and accountable local government that continues to deliver sustainable development and value for public resources while contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s decentralisation agenda.
